Who 'REALLY' abstains from blood in the WTS?
by BLISSISIGNORANCE ini was not raised a dub and was 'in' for only 12 years so there are 'many' things i don't know about the borg, that's why i ask alot of questions.
this is just another question that came into my mind some time ago and would appreciate any thoughts or opinions.. in the whole time i associated with jws, i never heard of any member of the gb/anointed/ anything above the r&f..........your 'average' publisher..........dying from refusing blood.. every experience i ever read about in the wts magazines was either about young adult jws/dear old faithful bro.
or sister so-and-so/ children and their obedient parents, making a decision to refuse blood and choose death.................because real life in the paradise earth was worth more than extending life in this system.

I have been told by a reliable anesthesiologist that 20% of his JW patients routinely give permission to receive blood, if needed, in exactly the circumstances your doctor described – secretly, in the OR, out of the sight of other JWs.

LANDMARK DECISION - Vicki Boer vs Watchtower Society
by Uzzah inas most are aware, vicki boer has been long awaiting a decision to be handed down in a case she started against the society in canada.. the decision was handed down today.
as with any 55 page decision, it will take some time for the legal experts to hash it over and decipher what was said.
but, in a nutshell..... vicki won.

Official Blood Document for Legal Purposes
by AlanF inbelow are scans for the two-page document that jehovah's witnesses give to legal authorities to state their official policy on blood.. page 1:.
page 2 can be found here, but is too large to comfortably include as an image: http://home.attbi.com/~alanf00/images/med_alt_p2.jpg.

Mr Kim, the WTS should not be in the scientific business, though it does try to give scientific advise frequently. Rather the question of them should be "what is the religious basis for these do's and don'ts." They claim that the Bible guides all of their conduct, so let them explain from the Bible the do's and don'ts.

Jeff asks:
"I am surprised that the Society is handing out something like this. It would seem to me that this could lead to some type of legal liability for them."
They aren't "handing it out" wink, wink. Notice that this "information" is printed on plain paper. It is not printed in their official publications, nor on their stationary. The first time I saw anything like this was many years ago when a HLC member handed it to me as we prepared to talk with my surgeon. Later, I asked some local elders if they were aware of the information that sheet contained. They confessed that they were not.
Things have't changed much. The average JW is unaware of the life/death issues that they many face some day and their local spiritual leaders aren't either. -

There is a not so subtle effort here to make the JW blood doctrine appear more reasonable than it is. The average uneducated JW will not see the deception. Instead, they will think that the Watchtower Society is again looking out for their welfare, opposing doctors who want to force that awful, evil blood upon them unnecessarily.
Here’s why: much of what is on page two has nothing directly to do with replacing lost blood, either because of hemorrhage or because of disease that has interfered with the normal blood manufacturing processes of the body. For example, “Transcutanious Pulse Oximeter” sounds so technical and so impressive, but is merely referring to a device with a sensor that looks at the color of blood through the skin and then calculates the percentage of red cells that are carrying oxygen. This is “high tech” in its own right, but has nothing directly to do with replacing needed red cells.
“Pediatric Untra-Microsampling Equipment” is common in most leading medical centers, trauma centers and university medical centers. Say that you are a JW and you are likely to automatically get this kind of procedure ordered by your physician. It merely refers to using smaller blood samples than is common in every day laboratory procedures.
“Batching – Multiple tests per blood draw” has been a common practice for years.
They throw in the “hematopoietic Agents.” Vitamins “C,” “B12,” “Folic Acid” etc. all sound so healthy, so “natural” to the typical JW compared to evil blood that the average JW swoons with pride and admiration of the Watchtower Society for the “wonderful way in which they care for the brothers.”
I could go on, but you get the idea.

Writing to Bethel
by Gadget inhow many people have written to bethel about a problem in the congregation, and what sort of reply did you get?.
i have a sutuation where elders are trying to bully me, and using other things to basically blackmail me.
elders in other halls are indirectly involved in the situation, and say they are out of order for doing it, but are unable to get involved because of the circumstances.

Hello Gadget,
It has been years since I have written to Brooklyn. I had hoped that some with more recent experience would comment here.
My experience: Like many large corporations, things can get mixed up a bit. Letters crossed in the mail and the left hand did not always seem to know what the right hand was doing. However, some good was accomplished in my case. The local elders had made such an egregious mistake that Brooklyn had no choice but to correct them. They did it in a kind way, actually. After all, these men were their own appointed representatives locally.
In a follow-up to the original problem, however, they did not respond to me directly. Instead they sent their reply to my letter to the other elders and I was never allowed to see the letter though they did read it to me. It contained a very important doctrinal exception to their stated (printed) position. Perhaps that is why they did not allow me to see it since I was the one protesting their position.
Be prepared that any correspondence you send to the Society will be forwarded to the local elders. You may get a reply directly or the reply may come by way of the local elders or in a few cases from the CO.
Regards,
Sam
